Due
to the rapid growth of the region and the impacts
on our roadway infrastructure, Santa Clara County
Traffic Authority passed a 1/2 cent sales tax
measure to fund necessary transporation improvements
within the county. Sandis provided surveying
services on over 43 separate projects (over
500 requests) and dedicated as many as 6 survey
crews to the project. The most notable of these
projects was the $74 million Highway 85/17 Interchange
which required a topographic survey for 1/2
mile of Los Gatos Creek; slope staking; mass
grading; as well as surveying for right-of-way
layouts, soundwalls, bridge abutments, bents
and deck control, storm and sanitary systems,
pump stations, retaining walls, barriers rails
and finish grade stakes for curb and gutter
and edge of pavement. Surveys performed under
this project were tied to the California Coordinate
System.
