What makes Sandis a great place to work? In this video, Sandis Vice President, Laura Cabral tells us about how she started in the industry and what sets Sandis apart.
Sandis is a civil engineering, surveying and planning firm– each team has a unique set of skills and experience they bring to the work we do in our communities. Laura Cabral, Vice President of Sandis, joined the survey team when she was 21 years old, a career that came to her by way of summer jobs with her father. “I became a surveyor sort of by accident,” Laura explains, “my dad was in the construction field and I was a tomboy and just enjoyed that–and it turned into a career.”
Laura has been at Sandis for over thirty years, a rare occurrence in todays working world, so what (in Laura’s opinion), sets Sandis apart as a great place to work?
When asked, Laura doesn’t miss a beat, “Its a real team culture, and a feeling of support,” she says, everyone at Sandi is always willing to lend a hand on projects. Its an environment of collaboration and teamwork that is at the core of what we do, and what makes Sandis the kind of place people stay “its a great atmosphere,” Laura says. We are a firm that values collaboration and expertise, and understand that collaboration and communication are what dictates success.
Its not just a great atmosphere, but Sandis is also growth minded, “There are a lot of opportunities for growth,” Laura tells us, her sentiment supported by her own growth at Sandis, where she started on the survey team June of 1988 and now serves at the firm’s Vice President.
It isn’t just ust the supportive environment that makes Sandis stand out, the office locations are also what make Sandis so appealing, with offices all over the San Francisco Bay Area, we are treated to natural beauty of one of the most diverse landscapes in the world. Mountains, valleys and coast are all just a few miles apart, “its a beautiful place to work,” Laura says, and if you are thinking of next steps in your career and wonder if Sandis would be a good place to work, just hear Laura tell you, with a smile in her voice:
“I would highly recommend it.”
We do too, Laura
