During the months of August and September of 2020, the CZU Lightning Complex Fire roared through Santa Cruz County scorching over 86,000 acres of land and destroying over 1,500 buildings and homes. The damage done to this community is irreplaceable, and our hearts go out to those who have suffered.
In response to the damage,Sandis has been working on the reconstruction of water pipelines for the San Lorenzo Valley Water District (SLVWD). Sandis performed a field assessment of 7.5 miles of water pipeline along with seven intakes of the damaged water lines. More than 50% of the structures assessed were completely destroyed, therefore repairing of the system begins with long-term planning solutions and temporary restoration.
The SLVWD provides water to thousands of homes, structures, and other connections. This is why it is of paramount importance to provide temporary relief to these communities, while planning long-term solutions. Planning and construction is happening as quickly as possible.
