Sandis provided civil engineering and land surveying services from preliminary design through construction administration. The Sandis team interfaced with city partners throughout the design and construction phase of the project.
For more than a decade, Dr. George W. Davis envisioned an aging campus for seniors in the Bayview Hunters Point District. Completed in 2016, the 154,400 SF, Dr. George W. Davis Senior Building is part of a four-building complex that serves as affordable senior housing and a public destination community center. The complex was created as a hub of community activity with vibrant spaces for senior services, designed specifically for senior mobility and movement around the complex.
The community center located on the first level includes fitness rooms, community garden, conference rooms, dining hall, salon, and offices. The building has below-grade parking, an at-grade community center, and four wood-framed residential levels above the concrete podium. Open space consists of landscaping, an entry court, balconies, patios, and a roof deck on level 2 with new sidewalks, drop-off area, and onsite parking spaces on Carroll Avenue.
