Las Positas College celebrated its new Viticulture & Winery Technology Facility with a ribbon- cutting ceremony on November 19th! This complex houses state-of-the-art equipment that will augment students’ hands-on learning experience and prepare them for a career in viticulture, wine hospitality, and more. The Campus Hill Vineyard allows students the chance to be fully involved in the process, from harvesting grapes to bottling the wine.
The facility cost $8.5 million and took two years to construct. It includes a covered crush pad, de-stemmer, sorting table and conveyor, crushers and rollers, temperature controlled stainless steel tanks, bottling line, cold storage room, barrel room, small analysis lab, and pneumatic press. A small tasting area and prep kitchen for food and wine pairing classes are housed in a separate building. Not only students will benefit from this new addition. The facility will be a resource available for the entire community in Livermore where local wine operations can bring in samples of their wine for testing.
Sandis provided civil engineering, surveying, and SWPPP QSD services on yet another new facility for Las Positas College.
