DOING OUR PART IN THE SANTA CRUZ COMMUNITY
Sandis’s commitment to improve our communities where we live, work and play extends beyond our engineering and surveying services. With 5-gallon buckets and trusty trash pickers in hand, Sandis team members headed out to Santa Cruz for a Save Our Shores Beach Clean-Up. Through the fog and cold winds, our crew had a good time for a good cause.
Summer is peak tourist season for Santa Cruz as people flood in to enjoy warm sands, fun Boardwalk attractions, and outdoor concerts under the stars. Tourism bolsters Santa Cruz County’s $1.1 billion dollar industry (based on 2019 figures), but it also often means large amounts of trash get left behind on our beaches. So we decided to lend a helping hand in taking care of our shores.
After an effortful morning of combing the beach, we awarded a prize to the person who gathered the most litter. You can see our winner below, our youngest participant, rocking some great shades. He’s bound to make plenty more waves in his future community service adventures!
