apple campus off-site improvements

sandis provided tragffic engineering for the new 176 acre, 2,800,000 sqft apple campus

Apple selected SANDIS as the off-site traffic engineer responsible for 176 acres of the new Apple Campus. Planning to house over 13,000 employees, SANDIS worked diligently to analyze and address ingress/egress and the possible traffic impacts of the new campus.

Sandis coordinated with public and private entities, including Caltrans, the City of Cupertino, City of Santa Clara, City of San Jose, VTA, Santa Clara Valley Water District, and County of Santa Clara.

I-280 SB On-Ramp/Lawrence Expressway / Calvert Rd

Boundary and easement verification and supplemental topographic survey for exclusive eastbound through lane (one shared left-turn /through lane, one through lane, and one right turn lane), a new retaining wall (along I-280), and the widening of an existing bridge that crosses the creek).

sandis sought Caltrans approval quickly and efficiently--successfully cutting a two-year process in half.

In this unique Bay Area transportation public/private partnership, half of the improvements fell under Caltrans direction, while private funding financed the remaining half. Through efficient work and a time-oriented team, SANDIS received Caltrans’ approval within a year, successfully cutting a two-year process in half. Due to SANDIS’ strong communication skills, the SANDIS team was able to remain in coordination with all involved parties and complete the proposed services in a very timely manner.

14th street cityscape improvements

sandis provided engineering services for the design build of an urban streetscape in the city of oakland

The project spans 18 blocks on 14th avenue, The four lane streetscape improvements included traffic signalization (at four intersections), roadway restriping, reworking of sidewalks, new bulbouts and street trees, improvements to bring ADA ramps up to code, adjustment/realignment of bus stop locations, widening and roadway realignment at one intersection, minor storm drain improvements, and the conversion of existing medians to planted medians.

WELCH ROAD CORRIDOR

To support the increase in hospital square footage, Sandis designed all new backbone utilities along the roughly 3,300 linear foot Welch Road corridor

Stanford Medical Center is a healthcare campus that provides world renowned facilities for patient care and cutting-edge research. To sustain and expand these facilities, the medical center determined two new hospital buildings were required. One building would be an expansion of the existing Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, while the other would replace the aging main hospital building. Sandis was retained to design the necessary roadway and infrastructure upgrades to service these two new facilities.

Reconstruction

SANDIS oversaw the reconstruction of existing sanitary sewer and storm drain facilities to create space for the new infrastructure

The roadway was widened to allow for a center left turn lane and bicycle lanes to be added, new street lighting was installed, two intersections were signalized, and pedestrian safety enhancements provided
